After an intensive year of training, I qualified with the International Institute of Reflexology.  Every treatment is tailor made to meet your needs on the day.

Treatments will differ and in consultation with you I devise a treatment plan and work on the appropriate reflexes and acupressure points, depending on your wellbeing in the moment.

A real treat for your feet, mind, body and quite literally sole/soul!

My treatments are different from others in that I apply my learning of traditional Chinese medicine and the five elements and am also able to offer aromaflex, which uses essential oils tailored specifically to you.

About Reflexology

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary holistic therapy that works with the body to restore its own natural balance. You don’t need to be ill to benefit – you may just want the opportunity to relax, de-stress and take time for yourself.

The theory of reflexology is that all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in smaller peripheral areas, for example the feet, hands, ears and face. The body is literally mapped out on the feet.

My qualification is in the Eunice Ingham method the longest standing approach. She developed zone therapy into what is known as reflexology. Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

What to expect from a Reflexology Treatment?

You are fully clothed for this not invasive treatment. You will be reclined in a chair with your feet elevated. You will be made comfortable with the option of a cosy blanket.

Some people like to talk during a treatment whilst others prefer to be quiet and close their eyes. I take my lead from you but I will check in with you from time to time for feedback. I can also offer soothing background music if you would prefer.

During the treatment I will work the reflexes by applying pressure and by sliding over specific reflex areas. I will check that the pressure is appropriate for you. Some areas may be uncomfortable depending on the individual but this is usually only transient (and most people describe this as quite a pleasant sensation!)

If appropriate, towards the end of the treatment I will use a natural cream to moisturise your feet and lower legs.

Benefits of Reflexology

While I do not diagnose or cure, the reported benefits of a regular course of reflexology can help with many conditions and is suitable for most people.  Many clients state a treatment induces a deep state of relaxation, boosts the immune system and creates a stronger, calmer mind. It also improves sleep, relieves stress, anxiety, concentration, energy levels, circulation and digestion.

In addition, it can help aid painful periods, infertility, pregnancy migraines, menopause and your overall emotional and physical well being.

The important thing to remember is that reflexology treats the person as a whole, because that’s how the body works.

  • Reflexology improves the circulatory system by stimulating improved circulation. This affects the respiratory system by deepening breathing and improving oxygenation of the blood. Often improved circulation can clear congestion from the lungs and upper respiratory tracts, including the ear, nose and throat.

  • Reflexology affects the urinary system by detoxing the body, preventing or alleviating kidney and bladder imbalances.

  • Reflexology rebalances the nervous system including the adrenaline and nerve responses, and by rebalancing the parasympathetic nervous system it assists your body’s own pain control mechanisms.

  • Reflexology regulates the endocrine system (hormones) and calms the stress response by balancing the adrenal reflexes.  It increases the effectiveness of the lymphatic system; boosting immunity, decreasing the likelihood of infection, and clearing the body of waste.

  • Reflexology works on the digestive system enabling effective transit and regulating intestinal processes.

  • Reflexology strives to establish homoeostasis – a physiological process of stable equilibrium.

  • Reflexology can help with specific symptoms and regular treatments can help your body to sustain optimum health and may be ideal as a preventative measure.
